AstroNova ("the app") is operated by GRIDSTUDIO TECHNOLOGIES LTD ("we", "us"). This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use AstroNova, why we collect it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to us at [email protected].

The short version: we collect what we need to run your account, create your readings, and keep the app working — and you can request deletion of your account and its data at any time.

Information we collect

  • Account data — your email address, authentication identifiers, and Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in identifiers used to create and secure your account.
  • Birth profile data — the birth date, time, and place you enter, together with derived astrological inputs such as zodiac placements. This is the material your chart and readings are built from.
  • User-generated content — questions you ask, readings you save, photos you upload for coffee readings, and the interpretations generated for you.
  • Purchase and subscription data — Apple transaction and subscription identifiers and your current entitlement state. We never receive your full card number; payment is processed entirely by Apple.
  • Device and app data — diagnostics, logs, crash reports, notification tokens, and app usage events, where applicable, used to keep the app reliable.
  • Support communications — messages you send us, so we can help you and keep a record of the conversation.

How we use information

  • To provide app features, including your birth chart, tarot, coffee readings, and daily reflections.
  • To generate readings and personalized interpretations from the details you provide.
  • To save your reading history so you can return to it.
  • To manage subscriptions and unlock the features you are entitled to.
  • To send notifications, if you have enabled them.
  • To improve reliability, fix crashes, and provide support.
  • To prevent abuse, fraud, and security issues.

We do not sell your personal information.

Readings and generated interpretations

AstroNova’s readings are generated interpretations. To create them, relevant inputs — such as your birth profile details, the question you ask, the cards you draw, or the photo you upload — are processed by the AI service providers listed below on our behalf. The result is a symbolic reflection intended for entertainment and self-discovery, not factual or professional advice.

Please avoid including information in your questions or photos that you would not want processed — for example, other people’s personal details or sensitive documents.

Coffee reading photos

When you upload a photo of your coffee cup, the image is processed to detect symbolic shapes and patterns and to generate your reading. Depending on how you use the feature, the photo may be stored temporarily for processing or kept as part of your saved reading history so you can revisit it.

Photos associated with your account are removed as part of account deletion. Please photograph only your cup — avoid capturing faces, people, or personal documents in the frame.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to run AstroNova. They process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:

  • Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, push notifications, analytics, and crash reporting, where applicable.
  • Apple — App Store purchases and subscriptions, Sign in with Apple, and device and platform features.
  • AI interpretation providers — services from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google are used by our backend to analyze reading inputs (including coffee cup images) and generate interpretations.

Because these providers process data for us, we cannot claim that no data ever leaves the app — but we share only what is needed to provide the feature you are using.

In-app purchases and subscriptions

All purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive transaction and subscription identifiers and your entitlement state so we can unlock premium features — never your payment card details. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings, and refunds are handled by Apple under App Store terms.

How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account is active so your chart, history, and settings are there when you return. When your account is deleted, associated personal data is removed, except where we are required or permitted to retain records — for example for legal, tax and accounting, fraud prevention, dispute, or security purposes, or transaction records.

Account deletion

You can start account deletion from inside the app, or follow the steps on our account deletion page. Deletion covers your account profile, birth profile data, saved readings, uploaded coffee photos, and other personal data associated with the account, unless retention is required as described above. We aim to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days unless a different period is required or permitted by law.

Children

AstroNova is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

International data transfers

Our service providers operate globally, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries with different data protection rules. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can exercise these rights from inside the app (for deletion) or by writing to [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data, and our providers maintain their own certified security programs. That said, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will provide more prominent notice in the app or on this site.
